04 Nov When customers speak, we listen
Our philosophy is to think of everyone in all that we do. Feedback from customers, our installation partners, end-users and our own engineers contribute to the design and specification of our products.
Our window intercom range is a good example. This has recently evolved and expanded, in part due to demand from new sectors such as education, entertainment and healthcare. The flexible nature of our design concept and the range of features means we can develop new models to suit new environments.
The STS-K073 was created for venues with limited counter space. It incorporates goose-necked microphones fixed into the speaker units, minimising the space needed on both the customer and staff sides.
Our STS-K061 also offers a solution for when space on the desktop of the customer side is limited or does not exist at all. The use of an overhead speaker and a screen-mounted microphone keep the desktop completely free.
These models demonstrate the ‘mix and match’ capabilities of our products. Because we have an in-house design team, we can be responsive to feedback. We are able to incorporate the features of one system with those of another to create a new model or even a bespoke product.
The most important component in every system is the microphone. We use different types of microphones to ensure clear sound from the person speaking is delivered into the amplifier. Microphones can be screen-mounted, vandal-proof for additional security, free-standing or built-into the surface.
Our commitment to accessibility means that hearing loops can be added to all our window intercom systems. They eliminate background noise for hearing aid wearers and are a feature we recommend with every installation.
Concerns from customers about energy use for a system that is permanently on, prompted us to introduce a sleep mode into our amplifiers. We’ve also responded to customers’ requests to be able to monitor interactions by including a call recording option.
We know the importance of brand consistency for our customers, and we can often tailor our assistive listening systems to compliment a design scheme. Changing the colour of housing, or creating new microphone mounts to fit into specific counter designs, can also contribute to an inclusive service, so customers or visitors don’t feel ‘othered’ and set aside. That means that window intercom systems, hearing loops or other assistive listening technologies are discreet.
The full offering of our assistive listening ranges is constantly being reviewed and developed – with that crucial feedback – in order to offer the best performance, the best listening experience and the simplest operation for everyone involved.
